Minimalistische Fotografie: Winnaars laten zien dat minder is meer

De winnaars van de zevende editie van de Minimalist Photography Awards laten zien dat minder soms meer is, en soms zelfs veel meer. Dit jaar deden meer dan 2.600 fotografen uit meer dan 50 landen mee aan de competitie, elk met een uitzonderlijke creativiteit in hedendaagse minimalistische fotografie.

Minimalist Fotograaf van het Jaar 2025

De Minimalist Fotograaf van het Jaar 2025 is Alexandros Othonos, die de hoofdprijs won met zijn serie, “Threads of Memory’s.” Het project, waarmee de fotograaf een hoofdprijs van €2.000 ontving, transformeert vintage familiefoto’s door zorgvuldig draden te plaatsen, waardoor het verleden met het heden wordt verbonden.

Categorie-winnaars

Fotografen hebben deelgenomen aan twaalf categorieën in totaal, waarvan de winnaars hieronder worden weergegeven. Het is vermeldenswaard dat Othonos de eerste plaats behaalde in de categorie “Conceptual”, dus de tweede-plaatswinnaar in die categorie wordt hieronder getoond. Daarnaast bestaan sommige inzendingen uit meerdere foto’s, hoewel hier slechts één afbeelding uit elke winnende serie is opgenomen. “Dit jaar heeft de Minimalist Photography Awards een mijlpaal bereikt, met meer dan 2.600 inzendingen en ruim 7.000 afbeeldingen wereldwijd,” zegt de oprichter van de competitie, Milad Safabakhsh. “De winnende werken van 2025 laten zien dat minimalistische fotografie niet alleen in leven is, maar ook een fundamentele taal van visueel vertellen is geworden.”

“Het was een genoegen om als jurylid te dienen voor de Minimalist Photography Awards van dit jaar. Het overweldigende aantal inzendingen uit de hele wereld benadrukt niet alleen de internationale aantrekkingskracht van de competitie, maar onderstreept, nog belangrijker, de blijvende relevantie van de minimalistische visuele taal in de hedendaagse fotografie,” voegt jurylid Leon Boch toe, Art Director van Galerie am Lindenplatz.

“Ik was vooral onder de indruk van de kwaliteit van het werk: duidelijke composities, subtiele details en krachtige ideeën die aantonen hoeveel expressieve kracht er bereikt kan worden door reductie. Elke afbeelding had zijn eigen karakter en bood een frisse kijk. Een grote dank aan alle kunstenaars die deze inspirerende uitwisseling mogelijk hebben gemaakt door hun bijdragen,” besluit Boch.
